Our Maida Vale Area Guide

Located just two stops on the Bakerloo line from Paddington and a 14 minute tube-ride to Oxford Circus, Maida Vale is extremely well connected to central London as well as the rest of the country. It sits west of Regents Park and is characterised by small parades of independent boutiques, attractive mansion blocks and leafy canal-side walks.

At Delph Living we understand that finding your perfect home isn’t always easy, so we thought we’d do the legwork for you and share our favourite hidden (and not so hidden) gems, in this highly sought after area of North-West London.

The canals are a great place to start. Spend a morning exploring the 5 beautiful walkways which run along the Little Venice Canal, or catch a relaxing narrowboat tour through the calm still waters. There are always various floating pop-up shops and water cafés to indulge in along the way and you can walk all the way along the Canal path, to Camden Lock.

One of our favourite local restaurants is The Waterway. With its fantastic outdoor terrace overlooking the canal, it’s the perfect spot for late night drinks on a cool summers evening, not to mention their fantastic brunch menu. It’s just a ten minute stroll along the canal path from our apartments at Swallow Court.

The Summerhouse is another lovely restaurant located on the canal. Throughout the warmer months the side of the restaurant opens up so you are able to sit, eat or drink, whilst watching the boats drift past.

If you fancy a trip to the movies, Everyman Cinema serves delicious food and drink whilst you enjoy your film. Not only is this venue a great place to catch the latest blockbusters; it is also home to a quirky bar serving a range of exciting cocktails – Be sure to ask the barman for an ‘Eye Candy’ made with real candy floss, it’s our favourite!

It doesn’t take a genius to note green open spaces are hard to come by in the city, but just a few hundred metres from our flats at Castellain Mansions you’ll find the Paddington Recreational Ground. Spread over 27 acres, the grounds include an athletics course and running track, tennis courts, a brand-new gym and a range other exciting activities to keep you fit and healthy.

One of our favourite locals is The Warwick Castle– Tucked away on a little side mews in close proximity to the canals, this pub has a lovely local feel, great drinks and a delicious roast dinner! The Elgin is another great bar. It has Great food, great service, great wine and drinks from several independent breweries and suppliers. This spot is the perfect place to spend a long Sunday afternoon.

Last but by no means least, is Le Cochonnet, an Italian pizzeria which sits on the little island between Castellain Road and Lauderdale Road. It is a hop skip and a jump away from Castallain Mansions and serves delicious authentic pizzas; an ideal spot to pick up a takeaway from.
